AEMOND STAMPS HIS CLASS ON DEBUT

Connections of exciting 3yo colt AEMOND will be hoping that he can add his name to the Honour Roll at Bendigo Racecourse famed Nursery of Champions after a comprehensive win on Debut today.  Away quickly from a wide barrier rider Mark Zahra elected to let AEMOND roll to the lead.  As he passed each 200m point Zahra allowed him just a little extra rein.  He balanced up on straightening and when asked for another effort the striking son of Written Tycoon extended impressively to put the race away in a matter of strides to win 4 lengths despite being eased down in the concluding stages.

AEMOND had been due to make his debut at Caulfield as a 2yo but the night before the race he was cast in his box and had to be withdrawn.  Trainer Sam Freedman advised connections to give him a good break and to bring him back as a 3yop.  On today’s performance it was very good advice and it looks likely that he will now step up into Stakes grade at his next start.  There are plenty of options over the Victorian Spring Carnival and Freedman was quick to point out “we have always liked him but now we have a win under our belt we need to work out if he is a pure sprinter or a sprinter miler."

AEMOND is out of the Redoute’s Choice mare RHAENYS who is a ½ sister to leading stallion Dundeel.  He was purchased by Rob Roulston and Mark Player of PR Thoroughbreds at the 2025 Magic Millions Yearling Sale from the Arrowfield Draft for $400,000.
