WHEN HARRY MET HARRY

For the beginning of his Spring campaign Group 3 winner RUN HARRY RUN was sent to Mildura by Team Hayes for the 1400m Mildura Cup, the centrepiece of the two day Mildura Racing Carnival. On hand to ride was Mildura local Harry Coffey and the two Harry’s combined brilliantly to record a strong win.
Away smartly Run Harry Run strode forward to sit outside the leader. Slow sectional times meant that he got a bit keen during the middle stages so Harry set him alight at the 600m mark to make it a genuine test. “The race didn’t pan out the way I planned it but coming to the 600m point I elect to make it a true test as I didn’t want to be left vulnerable in a short sprint under top weight when he had done a lot in the run. While he was coming to the end of it as they crossed the line he was too strong for them and showed he was the best horse in the race”. It was a first Mildura Cup victory for Harry and a most deserved win for a jockey who racks up more miles than most as he chases rides across Victoria.
This was the 5th win for RUN HARRY RUN. Relatively lightly raced for a rising 6yo with just 21 career starts this imposing son of Champion Sire Written Tycoon looks to have a promising Spring Carnival ahead.
